Yamaha Directv Remote Program – Blog

This may be a little off topic from the computer world, but there might be someone out there trying to program there DirecTV remote control to work with their Yamaha Receiver. If this reaches just one person, then it makes it all worthwhile.

1. First, there has to be a TV code programmed to the TV button on your remote. Make sure you have your specific TV code programmed to the TV button on your DirecTV remote before proceeding.

2. Put the DirecTV remote on AV2.

3. Press and hold MUTE and SELECT at the same time until you see two blinks at the top of the remote.

4. Enter 30176, then Press Select. Put your DirecTV remote back on TV mode at the top.

5. Now try to hit Volume up or down and see if your Yamaha receiver is being controlled with your DirecTV remote.

I truly hope this helped you out through your frustrations of not being able to control the volume with your DirecTV remote.

In regards to changing channels and having the DirecTV buttons work with the yamaha remote, no, nothing that I am aware of because the Yamaha remote is not a universal remote. The DirecTV is a universal remote in that it can control other devices.

      Thanks for the comment!

My first Directv remote worked with my Yamaha receiver. When the remote broke, the replacement would not work with any of the codes provided by Directv. Their tech support said there were no other codes or ways to make it compatible. It made no sense since the old remote worked fine. They insisted it couldn’t be done. This simple code and instructions shows what uncaring clowns Directv support is. A huge thank you for providing this information! I knew it had to be simple. Directv is simple in a different way, a stupid uncaring way.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I knew this would help someone out over the years. I too was struggling to get a solid answer for this when I had my Yamaha receiver, and finally was able to figure it out and wanted to document it so others did not have to struggle as hard I had to do.
